Words and music by Aralee Dorough (Voyage of Blacwyd), “The Tarot Canticles“ unfolds like an old fashioned radio program or stage show, taking the listener on a journey in search of intuition and strength.
… One thing is certain: You will soon be receiving an important message.
Aralee Dorough asked me via Bernhard and Marcus if I could design an artwork for her upcoming cd-release on tarot. I find the vaudeville part, the slightly shady and vernacular aspect of tarot very attractive and enjoyed listening through the whole piece. My first idea was to show Aralee, the flutist as the fool – the really wise one – one image is only the flutist’s hands and a wand with sprouting leaves as a flute. Of course the little dog on the fool card had to be a poodle. The hands fascinated me, Aralee has very beautiful, long fingers, in the end I altered a funfair tarot reading sign as the cover artwork for the canticles and reversed the colors to have the sign on a velvety dark night sky violet ground.
